::True Ames Convert::

The True Ames Convert is a fin of the highest quality in manufacturing, materials, and execution. Unlike many fins in the marketplace today, it's a precision hand finished G-10 fin with solid G-10 base and is available in all bases except deep tuttle. Many fins are molded now, which does not allow for the same precision in foil profile and because the edges of a molded fin are resin with little fiberglass, they ding much more easily.

From the moment you take off the EVA fin cover, you will know you are looking at a fin that is precision foiled and finished to a level generally reserved for fins that the pros purchase for over $200 a fin! The shape of the Convert is halfway between a freeride/slalom fin and a wave fin, and it provides the following peformance features:

Excellent planing

Easy jibing

It's much easier to maneuver with this fin than a typical freeride/slalom fin but it still has very good upwind performance though not as good as a more vertical fin.

It is pretty much spinout free when used in the wind range it is intended for.

We recommend this fin as a light air fin on a hardcore wave or freestyle wave type board as well as a strong wind fin on a freeride board. I use it on my 95 liter freemove board for lighter winds and 6.0m2 conditions and on my 78 liter board for 5.2m2 conditions. It also works really well on small to medium size freeride boards in strong wind.
