Isthmus Staff Review :: 2009 Starboard Kode 86 tested in Bonaire ::
I spent several hours riding it in 5.2m2 conditions in moderate chop. Even with its relatively flat nose rocker in comparison to some I had no issue with the nose catching in chop. While I had no trouble jibing it, it required more focus and follow through than some of the other boards I tested on this trip. This board has a relatively flat deck in the strap area with flat deck pads which worked my ankles harder than pads that provide dome. The Drake footstraps are comfortable and direct though not the easiest to adjust to a larger size. The Drake fin was the weak link on the board not providing a solid feel and cavitating more easily than I would have liked though I had no trouble pulling it back in to get it tracking again. The footstrap inserts are too close together for my size 11 feet without booties. To get enough room I had to move one side of each strap to a wider position. The amount of room could be an issue for those sailing with booties and definitely for those with large feet. : check out the specs : |
