Windsport Spring 2007 pg. 85::2007 Neil Pryde V8 7.5:: Recommended Luff: 490cm Boom: 211cm Cams: 2 Battens: 7 Test mast: 460 Neil Pryde X9 (100% carbon) Price: $730 Web: neilpryde.com DESIGN BRIEF A direct beneficiary of Neil Pryde's racing program, the V8 has many of the features found in the pro RS series. With only two cams and a midsize luff sleeve, the V8 rotates more easily and is more user-friendly. ON WATER It doesn't matter what type of light-air board you ride - the V8 matches up perfectly. It's easily tunable for an draft height, and there are no quirks when choosing one setting versus another. Whether the draft is tuned high or low, the V8 remains one of the most stable sails and has an unmatched efficient, slippery feel. Like other racy performers, the cams need a little wind for clean rotation. RIGGING The V8 is easy to rig. Simply pay attnetion to how loose the leech becomes with downhaul, and you can place the draft exactly where you need to for any given board. Neil Pryde goes the extra mile with spot-on rigging recommendations and features engineered beautifully to match the sail. CONCLUSION The most tunable cam sail tested, the V8 matches any rider amazingly well. : more : |
