::2007 JP Super Sport 116 FWS::
Sail Range: 5.5 - 8.0
Optimal Sail: 6.5
WHAT WE LIKED: Straight-line blaster that loves beam (and broad) reaching. "Race-ready." said on expert. Others felt it was the best-behaved board of the fleet for drag racing. Several lightweight and middleweight testers felt it planed early and motored upwind.
BUYER BEWARE: It's a touch under-finned becasue it's designed to be sailed powered up; it's too high-performance for newbies; jibing was a bit stiff.
BETTER THAN THE FLEET AT: Keeping riders behind the wheel at breakneck speeds.
BEST SUITS: Aggressive intermediates to experts who are focused on the horizon - and getting there first.
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS: Available in a lighter-weight Pro Edition.

DESIGN BRIEF
When JP signed racer Micah Buzianis, the company made the pro-level Slalom to help him win. The Super Sport is a toned-down version, allowing everyone to go fast - really fast.
THE RIDE
Even as a "detuned" board, the Super Sport has the raciest, most demanding, most rewarding ride in the test. It jumps up onto a plane and continually responds with acceleration in every gust. The top speed feels limitless, and the ride is stable enough to keep the throttle pinned. It's not for the faint of heart, since the strap placement is aggressive and the nose will wander if you let it. For those looking to compete in a local slalom series or blast past buddies on every reach, the Super Sport is an ideal choice.
THE JIBE
Technique is required, but the Super Sport is not nearly as hard to jibe as expected. With weight forward and the nose carving the board, this JP comes around in a relatively tight arc with plenty of speed. For the advanced rider, this is as fun as it gets.
CONCLUSION
It might not be fast enought for the world's top slalom racers, but it's faster than anything else in the test.
