Summertime and the Kona season is in full swing, at least for those of us in the Northern hemisphere. The Kona Worlds on Isalmorada has become the talk on the beach. Bringing windsurf racing back to the Keys was only natural. And the first week of November should provide us with the best in wind and sun.

Event Format    While most everyone is coming to Islamorada for World-class competition, our plan is to make it one of the most memorable Kona Worlds to date. Besides the course racing for championship points, there will be a freestyle competition and a long-distance race. Off the water, there should be adequate time to explore the surrounding Islamorada area and experience the Keys lifestyle. On Day 3, we will complete racing by noon and leave the rest of the day to explore the Keys. We plan to have a charter bus available to take a group or two the remaining 80 miles to Key West. We will be sending out a brief questionnaire well prior of the event to help determine everyone's interest.

Lodging    The Islander, a Guy Harvey Outpost, reserved a block of discounted villas for us. Our reservations have filled two thirds of those villas. In addition, the cutoff date for discounted reservations is September 1st. When you call reservations at 305-664-2031, just give them the check-in date and the group name, Kona World Championships or the Group Code which is KONA. They will also honor these discounted rates for up to three nights before and three nights after the regatta. While staying on site is the ideal situation for many, we are fortunate to have 20 lodging resorts within 3 miles of the Islander. We have attached a list of additional lodging in order of closest to the regatta site and color coded for price ranges.

Charters    Have you reserved your charter yet? We do have only a limited number of charters and two thirds of them have been reserved. In addition, the charter fees will go up as of the first of August. Please make you reservation promptly, even if you only need a sail rig. Subsequent to the regatta, the charter boards/rigs may be purchased. For pre-orders, charter booking and spare parts, please contact:, 386-760-9926.
